Updated 4th April 2009

Welcome to the Jackal Club and Register Web site, (Minion or Imperial) if it looks a bit low tech, that’s because the original Jackal was a low tech car , it’s a kit car initially based on the Vauxhall Viva, yes its that old.

There were only about 25 built originally, they were on sale from November 1982 to July 1987.

A further 6 were built based on the Sierra between 1988 and 2000

The Jackal Register was closed on Jan 1st  2001

But its now reopened on June 1st 2008

I have renamed the Register to a Club and Register (2008) , some Kit car insurance companies give you a discount if you say you are a member of a club, if you send me the details of your car I will put it on the register and send you a certificate with a membership number, its all free, but it might get you a few quid off your Kit Car insurance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Jackal was in put back in production by Jackal Cars located at Herstmonceux, East Sussex, the owner there made about 6 more cars, but sold the project to Cotswold Kit cars sometime in the year of 2000

The Jackal was reported to be back in production (as of Jan 1st 2001), by Cotswold Kit Cars but it seems it did not appear on the market to date (November 2001)

2008 UPDATE

This was red car was the last version of the Jackal car seen (as sold by Jackal cars), although the Cotswold Kit Cars may change some of its appearance

.

As far as I knew Cotswold Kit Cars did not put the car back in production and to date (2008) the jigs and body moulds seemed to have disappeared.

APRIL 2009 UPDATE

The owner of the Jackal Kit car project has surfaced (April 2009) but all the Jackal body moulds were destroyed in a fire.

Good news is that negotiations are going on , on the possible restart of building the car again, maybe BMW based, this site will be updated as more information is known

This Vehicle below is the Jackdaw built by the same company that built the Jackal.

The Jackal body seems to have appeared on another car, I am reliably informed it is not to be called a Jackal. (June 2001)

A company called Deauville cars, is producing a car called the Canard its a 2CV based car with a converted Jackal body, albeit in a very different form to the original Jackal,

see the link below for more info and some good pictures.

They even offer it in an LPG version !
